About the Farm

The farm is situated on the outskirts of Marden in the Weald of Kent and is surrounded by a patchwork of fields, hedges, trees and ponds.  This particular corner of  the 'Garden of England' is well known for its fruit production and Marden was until recently the home of the National Fruit Show.

The farm covers around 120 acres, which is very small in comparison with most modern farms.

We have approximately 25 acres of top fruit (apples and pears) which are grown on the higher elevations of the farm that has more fertile soil.  The apples and pears are mainly produced for sale through major supermarket chains through the country.  The other fruit is sold for processing into apple juice, pies etc.  We also now supply limited quantities of Horlands Farm Apple Juice, that is professionally processed locally using only apples grown on Horlands Farm.

The lower elevations of the farm are on Weald clay and are laid down to grass which are grazed by the livestock.  We have 120 breeding ewes which produce lambs for the meat trade through our farm shop as a pack of lamb or for sale at the local livestock market.  We also rear cattle over a two year period which are again sold through our farm shop as a pack of beef or at local livestock market.
